2005

Natasha Hart takes her sons to an East London park and gives them a basketball lesson. Their friends and onlookers soon join in.

2006

Newham All Star Sports Academy is registered as a charity. There is £20 in the bank account. It registers its first two England Basketball National League members – the sons of Natasha Hart.

2007

NASSA gains its first England Basketball National League title – in the under-13s age group.

2008

The Carry A Basketball, Not A Blade (CABNAB) campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of knife crime and gang culture is launched by NASSA player Anthony Okereafor.

2009

NASSA’s England Basketball National League membership is now up to 306.

2010

Partnership begins with the University of East London whose SportsDock facility – built for the London 2012 Games – will become NASSA’s new home court two years later. With the future secure, NASSA establishes a Seniors development programme and forms men’s and women’s teams.

2011

Expansion takes NASSA into other London Boroughs – Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Redbridge and Waltham Forest – to reach more young people.
