NASSA founder Natasha Hart is chosen to carry the Olympic Flame in the Olympic Torch Relay ahead of the London 2012 Games.
2013
April – NASSA’s teams across its junior and senior, men’s and women’s ranks, win 14 National League titles. The charity’s England Basketball National League membership now stands at 510. Between them, they speak 151 different languages and dialects.
September – NASSA celebrates the fifth anniversary of its CABNAB campaign at Rokeby School, Canning Town. The event is featured on BBC London’s lunchtime and evening programmes.
December – NASSA is announced as runner-up in the ‘Everyday Impact – Long-Term Enterprises’ category in the DSC Social Change Awards 2013.
2014
January – NASSA’s Under-18 men’s team reach the final of the Sureshot National Cup with a 92-84 victory over Manchester Magic in Manchester.
March – NASSA founder Natasha Hart is chosen to carry the Sochi Winter Paralympics Torch in a special ceremony in Trafalgar Square.
April – NASSA’s Under-13s boys team are crowned national champions in their age group for the third successive year with a 117-62 win over Leicester Warriors.
June 4 – NASSA coaches win two honours at the London Awards for Sport & Physical Activity. Head Coach Chris Facey is named Coach of the Year, while Aurimas Verbukas is recognised as the Volunteer of the Year.
June 12- NASSA is recognised as the overall Charity of the Year at The Charity Awards 2014. NASSA is also selected as winner of the Children and Youth category.
July – NASSA becomes the first community project in Newham to receive a special award from Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe ‘in recognition of NASSA’s outstanding work with young people in Newham.’
November – NASSA Head Coach is named UK Community Coach of the Year at the UK Coaching Awards 2014 and presented with his award by HRH Princess Anne, The Princess Royal. He is also runner-up in the overall Coach of the Year category.
